Soha Ali Khan to Lead Candlelight March in Delhi Today for 1984 Riots Film: Hurdles coming in the way of the release of ’31st October’ are far from over, as a new PIL has been filed in the Delhi Hight Court (HC) against its release. On October 5, the HC refused to entertain a petition filed by one Ajay Katara, saying it was “badly drafted” and that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) was neither approached before nor made a party to the case. The PIL has now impleaded the CBFC in the case. Also, a 55-second video of the film was leaked online on Wednesday.
“The leaked video gives away important details about the film’s plot, and it seems that it has been leaked from the censor copy,” says Harry Sachdeva, the producer of the film, who has now planned a peace march for today, starting from Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib to India Gate.
The candlelight march will be led by Soha Ali Khan, the lead actress of the film. “We want to get together all our supporters and show people who are opposing the release of the film that we are joined by many in our struggle. Joining us in the peace march today will be hundreds of victims of the 1984 riots.
We have sent requests to political leaders like Meenakshi Lekhi and Manoj Tiwari, and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president, Manjit Singh GK, will be participating in the march as well. School children and students from Khalsa College will also participate in the march. I also wanted Kailash Satyarthiji to be a part of the march as he strongly supports us, but unfortunately, he isn’t in the city today. We’ve worked hard for the film and faced many hurdles, so we will put in every effort to make sure that the film sees the light of day,” adds Sachdeva.
