Mobility startup OKWU has launched its first smartphone in the country. Dubbed Pi, the smartphone comes with an accessory called U-Tag. The handset carries a price tag of Rs 5,999 and comes with a dual-camera setup at the back. This includes one 8MP module and one 2MP module. There’s also a 2MP front-facing shooter for selfies.
In terms of specifications, the OKWU Pi has a 5-inch HD display of 720×1280 pixel resolution. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android Marshmallow OS and is powered by a 1.2GHz MediaTek processor paired with 1GB RAM. There’s also 8GB of internal storage, further expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards.
OKWU Pi has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and offers 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as major connectivity options. The entire package is backed by a 2,000mAh battery. The company is also offering an accessory called U-Tag with the smartphone. Priced at Rs 5,999 the U-Tag is essentially a Bluetooth-enabled tag that can be connected to personal belongings so that they are not lost.
The ‘tagged’ belongings can be located via an audible buzzer. Notification alerts are also sent to the paired smartphone in case the belongings go beyond a certain distance from the smartphone. The phone is configured to upload its location to OKWU’s servers, which can track its location.
